In Places to Visit

If you are visiting Costa Rica for the first time, there are obvious activities and places you must visit to get a feel of the country, its beautiful flora and fauna, locals, customs, etc. Once you have done the beaches, volcanoes, San Jose down town and such… you are in for the most special teat of them all – Costa Rica’s secret paradise spots! If you are really looking for a unique experience then visiting this marvelous spot is most definitely a MUST!

Located within the Tenorio Volcano National Park in Guanacaste, you will find one of Costa Rica’s wonders: Rio Celeste! This spot is so incredibly beautiful that we promise you it will hypnotize you with its fascinating blue colors!

Tenorio National Park is known for its rain and cloud forests, hot springs and most importantly for having the most stunning river in the country. You can choose to enter the park by using a car or by hiking. However be advised that if you do decide to hike, you should have good physical condition as it is a bit challenging.

The hike through the National Park’s rainforest takes about an hour or so, but it goes by real quick if you are into sightseeing. You will get to see everything from butterflies and frogs to birds and monkeys. About 45 minutes into the hike you will start to hear a huge roar – it definitely builds your anticipation for a while!

Once you get to Rio Celeste it will be all worthwhile! The color, the waterfall, the scenic view – its just so amazingly beautiful! Rio Celeste’s hue is caused by a chemical mixture of sulfur and carbonate which make the water turn blue. So this blue river contrasted against the Park’s green luscious flora is most certainly a view you will never forget!

You can decide to swim in the river, play near the waterfall or simply relax on the river’s hot springs. Make sure to bring a good camera, and even a waterproof one if possible as we assure you will want to take as many pictures as possible!

Rio Celeste is one of Costa Rica’s most stunningly beautiful secrets – We are sure you wouldn’t want to miss it! If you’re looking for car hire services in Guanacaste, contact us at Solid Car Rental Costa Rica for information on our rates and services.
